 A Notary Public is an official of integrity appointed by state government — typically by the secretary of state — to serve the public as an impartial witness in performing a variety of official fraud-deterrent acts related to the signing of important documents like acknowledgements & jurats. 

 The notary  will ask for identification to verify that you really are who you say you are. You will need a government issued valid photo ID to notarize your document. For example driver’s license, passport etc. 

 The notarization process is typically simple. You present a document to a notary public and sign it in their presence. After that, the notary officially notarizes the document using an official stamp, writes in the date, and adds their own signature.

 It is illegal for us (notaries) to seal and sign a document without witnessing your signature. A signer needs to be present whose document is to be notarized.

We are authorized to witness the signing of documents. We are prohibited from helping prepare or assisting in completing documents. 

•   A document containing blank spaces or  missing pages 
• A document that does not contain a notarial certificate, and the signer cannot instruct us which type of notarial certificate is required
• The signer wants us to certify a copy of a vital record, such as a birth or death certificate, which we are not permitted to do.
